Goodnight Irene Productions is an independent film company with Marian Gagnon, Ph.D., as its founder. Gagnon, a former journalist and now full-time professor of journalism, visual literacy, and film studies at Johnson & Wales University, is always working on a new documentary project to bring back to life lost – or forgotten – women’s stories.
As Writer, Director, and Producer, she collaborates with videographers, animators, archivists, film editors, and composers to produce award-winning documentaries.
You can view her list of films in the Filmography section of this website.
Gagnon’s most recent film, America’s Forgotten Heroine: Ida Lewis, Keeper of the Light, premiered at the Casino Theatre in Newport in May 2014 to a standing-room-only crowd and was also selected and screened at the 2014 Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival.
Additional screenings continue to be held throughout New England and the film is scheduled to air on R.I. PBS in September. Gagnon was awarded grants from the R.I. Council for the Humanities (RICH) and the R.I. State Council for the Arts (RISCA) for her Ida Lewis film, which has been nominated for an EMMY® AWARD by the NATAS Boston/New England Chapter.
She will be announcing her next film project in the near future.
